Broome

            Western Australia

The Peninsula

Broome is on a peninsula with Roebuck bay on one side and the Indian Ocean on the other. This creates many different beaches. Of course there is Cable Beach stretching from Gantheaume Point to as far North as the eye can see.

South from Gantheaume Point turning East to the port is Riddell Beach. This beach has the feel of desert island with a fantasy landscape of beach, red rock, and surf. Perfect place to get away from everything. Literally five minutes and you seem as though you are as remote as the moon.

Then there is town beach. A great restaurant/coffee shop and the beach that stretches out to mudflats at low tide.

Broome Town

Broome is a small town in the middle of no-where. This doesn’t mean there isn’t anything going on, Broome has everything you would expect.

With many pubs, clubs and chic bars there is a wide range of choice. Want to go out to play some pool? Want to listen to a band? Want to hang out and eat tapas? We have it all.

Italian, Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Thai? What do you want to eat tonight? Broome has it all.

Want to see the latest movie? Broome has air conditioned indoor cinemas but better yet why not go to the oldest picture garden in the world?

At Sun Pictures you watch a movie under the stars. If you’re really lucky, a jet may create a mini intermission as it zooms just metres over the screen! You may miss a bit of the flick but believe me you won’t soon forget the live ‘special effects’.

Adventure Aplenty – Pearl Town

Fishing, snorkelling, diving and kayaking adventures are all on the menu for those who love to get out and experience the magic of Broome’s tropical seas. Learn about the pearling industry on day trips to Willie Creek Pearl Farm. Or visit some genuine old time pearl luggers (the boats they did the pearling on) at where else, Pearl Luggers.

Shopping

Yep. You guessed it. You can shop for pearls. The pearls produced from the waters around Broome are considered the best in the world.

You can find Kimberley mined diamonds in Broome too. Pink, yellow, or white diamonds! All can be found for sale at one of the many jewellery shops around town.

Golf

Of course there’s a course. Don’t hit the kangroos. Yes they may bounce across the fairway at the Broome Golf Club.

Broome Golf Course is an easy 5 minute drive from Barefoot Bungalows.
